What is up with the massive quantities of young children with cell phones nowdays ? Next time your out look around at how many young kids you see talking/texting away on their cell phones.
It just kind of baffles me at why a 9-15 yr old really needs a cell to talk to their friends. Driving age I can understand for emergency situations while driving and such, but just to gossip, text or take pictures with friends? It's not happening at my house , and yes I've already been approached by my 11 yr old dd about it.
I'd love to get rid of my husbands let alone get my child one ..nope nuh uh not gonna happen. I'd rather put the 9.99 that the add on would cost into her savings account. I guarantee she's not gonna remember the fun phone conversation she had, or the cool text messages her friends sent her several years from now.

I did it!
I made my grocery goal for the week! My total came to $68.14, not too much under but its a start. One thing that has been saving me $5-$10 a week is by shopping at two different grocery stores according to sales. I'm also planning on trying out http://www.angelfoodministries.com you get a huge box of food for $25 which will last our family of 5 about a week. I plan on taking the difference of what I save that week and depositing it in the savings to further boost our emergency fund.
I've been having the kids save their aluminum cans, so they can recycle and make a little money to put in their accounts. I figure this summer it will be a fun challenge on walks and outings to see who can find/collect the most. Ebay is turning out to be a really fun educational experience for the kiddos. Setting prices and paying fees/shipping helps them realize the responsibilites businesses have.
Goals for tommorrow:
Having a "no light" day It's been really nice and sunny here so we'll use the natural sunlight instead of turning on all our lights.
Limiting TV time....since its so nice we should spend some time outdoors, get some exercise and have fun instead of sitting on the couch watching the tube.
Decluttering & Cleaning one room of the house...I think we all should tackle our bedrooms.
5-5-5 challenge ....find 5 things to throw out , 5 things we can donate, and 5 things we can sell on ebay.

Ebay Addiction
During the past few months I've become a total ebay addict. I sit, refresh and research completed auctions. Something about watching the green numbers on your selling screen grow is exhilarating. Knowing that some extra cash will soon be hitting the savings is not to bad either! While watching me run around like an ebay lunatic, taking pictures, listing, packing and making endless trips to the post office my kids have caught the entrepreneurial bug also.
so therefore I posted my sons first auction last week, yes thats right mr. rex the dinosaur from Toy Story will be finding a new home soon. I told my son he could keep half of the money he earns and the other half is going straight into his savings account. So I'm crossing my fingers that we can clear out some old toys this way and teach him a little lesson about money also.

Mass Confusion
Who needs a treadmill when you have a one year old? I think I've official chased the mini man throughout our house 50 times at least. Aren't sundays suppose to be peaceful? lol Not for moms I suppose. Makes planning out the weekly grocery list a tad difficult.
I've been spending between 70-80 per week on groceries, but my plan is to reduce this as much as possible this week and month. I want more money for the savings! So therefore I need to get my butt in gear and really make an effort. My plans are to reduce our grocery bill, utilities, and gas for the car. Then put the extra money I've saved throughout the month in our ING savings account. I have one problem though .....I'm married to *gasp* a spender! Not that he's a big spender but the little things add up. I'm slowly but surely working on him, but first I figure I "el cheapo" can frugalize myself even more to make up for the difference. We shall see.
